Movement Is Life!

Movement is Life happens to not only be our slogan, but our lifestyle at Pinamonti Physical Therapy and Wellness Center.  Movement has a direct impact on how we function physically and our overall performance.  Movement can broken down into either functional or dysfunctional.  Movement of our joints should be looked at and performed daily as part or our normal exercise routine.  If we train our bodies and assess how we move during daily exercise we can avoid long term musculoskeletal dysfunctions, which will ultimately improve our quality of life.  Usually, dysfunctional movement can be linked to either joint mobility restrictions or poor musculoskeletal performance.  In order to address dysfunctional movement  you must be able to determine where the dysfunction lies.  If the dysfunction lies in the joint, then the joint dysfunction must be addressed first before you initiate muscle performance training.  If the dysfunction involves  muscular performance then you should address the  muscle strength deficits around the involved joint.  Daily flexibility and  range of motion activities can help keep you stay in touch with the functional movement of your body.  Generalized calisthenics and strength training can help you maintain muscle mass as you age and keep your body in tip top physical condition.  Functional movement should be something we all keep in the back of our minds as we train for the long marathon of life.
