Diabesity

Diabetes and Obesity have reached epidemic proportions in the US over the last few years.  Statistics have shown a significant increase in diabetes (both type I and II) and obesity effecting our youth today.  Type II diabetes, what once was primarily diagnosed in adults over 40 only a couple of decades ago now has become a common diagnosis in todays children.  This epidemic has significant health consequences and should be cause for concern.

Healthcare professionals have always recommended burning more calories through exercise than you consume in order to maintain a healthy weight.  Healthcare professionals have always relied on the food pyramid to educate people on how they should eat.  If you want to avoid becoming a statistic and falling into the diabesity trap then you must abandon the old and outdated  and often special interest group way of thinking.  Take responsibility for your choices and stay healthy.

We must look at the source of the calories we consume daily.   In order to stay healthy and avoid the pitfalls associated with the sugary, processed, and nutrient deficient diets of todays society we must make healthier choices.  You would not drink formaldehyde to quench your thirst.  Yet, when we consume aspartame in diet soft drinks  and food in order to avoid the extra calories we are doing just that.  Aspartame when consumed in diet food and drink can convert to formaldehyde and potentially lead to various illnesses.

Donโ€™t be a statistic!  Eat more whole foods,  eat more plant based foods, avoid sugary and processed foods.  Avoid foods containing aspartame.  Exercise daily and make an effort to look at the source of your food calories rather than just count the calories themselves.

Movement is Life!  Your Health Matters.
